Telstra cripples T-Box to drive Australians to Foxtel and subscription video

Telstra has decided to kill the smart TV features in its ageing T-Box video recorders, leaving long-time customers fuming as they begin the search for a new set-top box to rule the lounge room. Launched back in 2010, Telstra's first set-top box offered the ability to watch and record digital free-to-air television - a "Personal Video Recorder" performing mind-bending tricks such as pausing and rewinding live broadcasts - back in an age when most homes still relied on analogue Video Cassette Recorders.
