Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

So I get to on-line chat to ask Comcast rep what the deal is with USA-HD.
I explain that the Iguide does not show any HD programs in the schedule.....not ever.
I also explain that if I use the Comcast TVPlanner guide on comcast.com, it DOES
show programs listed in HD.  So I ask her which one is correct.   She finally replies,
Iguide doesn't support programs in HD.  WHAT???????????  What does THAT mean ?
That was funny. Typical Comcast answer.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

The information in iGuide is limited by what information they get. If USA doesn't tell TVGuide what programs are HD or not, there is no way for them to know.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

Yet TVplanner on comcast.com DOES show the HD programming.   Which brings me
to a yet different question:

Is there any way for the Motorola Box to indicate that you are viewing an HD broadcast ?

Not the box itself, but the guide says so.  If you press info on an HD program the guide will say HD under the time.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

Doesn't the box say it for every program on every HD channel whether the program itself is in HD or not?

I don't think so.

That's exactly my point. I know that.  BUT..on USA-HD, looking at the guide it NEVER shows a program as HD on that channel.

Yep, you're right.  Actually, USA-HD has so little that is actually HD that it is probably an oversight from USA itself.  The Law and Order: SVU that is on tonight at 9:00 is the only HD program they have, that I'm aware of and the guide doesn't show it that way.  Remember that the guide is only as good as what information it receives.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

I got an email from Comcast saying that they don't maintain the Iguide so they couldn't answer my question. At tleast THAT kinda made sense.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

I wonder why USA even bothered to add an HD channel, and even more why Comcast is adding it, instead of some channels with real HD content, in some areas such as here in Seattle.  Must be a package deal.

Re: Comcast Chat Service Re: HD programming

The iGuide information is poor. I recorded Lost Worlds on HistoryHD last night. Not only is it stretched SD, it's still letterboxed!!! A quick check of MonsterQuest appeared to be real  HD. Both programs had HD tags in their descriptions.
