Verizon to Stream Live NFL Games

While Comcast nickels and dimes its customers to pony up $5 a month for the NFL Network, Verizon FiOS will be streaming live NFL games with enhanced content to its Video and Broadband customers for free.  All FiOS video customers have access to NFL Network and NFL Network HD as part of their basic programming package.

NFL Network Game Extra [is] a unique service that puts viewers in a virtual control booth and enables them to watch live, online broadcasts of Thursday and Saturday pro football games while selecting from among multiple camera-feeds.

The service, provided at no additional charge, is made possible through a one-of-a-kind agreement between Verizon and NFL Network, the only year-round channel dedicated to football. The service is available online through any broadband connection.

Viewers of the online broadcasts will have access to alternate camera angles and live audio feeds and have the ability to view one of four camera angles, or all four angles simultaneously.

Other features include: live online chats with other NFL Network Game Extra viewers  during the live games; game statistics, highlights and drive-chart simulations during the games; on-demand video highlights of the games; and special events, such as college bowl games and college all-star games including the Insight Bowl, Texas Bowl and Senior Bowl.

Re: Verizon to Stream Live NFL Games

Last year's NFL Network games were pretty much for crap, but there are at least a few this year that could be semi-interesting:

Week 13: Thursday, November 29, 2007
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys     8 p.m.

Week 14: Thursday, December 6, 2007
Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins     8 p.m.

Week 15: Thursday, December 13, 2007
Denver Broncos at Houston Texans     8 p.m.

(Hey - two pretty bad teams can make for an interesting game)

Week 17: Saturday, December 29, 2007
New England Patriots at New York Giants     8 p.m.

Then again, there's this potential blowout:

Week 16: Thursday, December 20, 2007
Pittsburgh Steelers at St. Louis Rams     8 p.m.
