Verizon FiOS Quietly Launches Discovery Channel HD

Verizon FiOS launched Discovery Channel HD unannounced overnight last night, not to be confused with HD Theater (formerly Discovery HD Theater), which has been carried by the service from its launch as near as I can tell.  The service last added an HD channel (A&E HD) in the middle of October.

Verizon previously announced that FiOS will carry 150 HD channels by the end of 2008.

Today's launch brings my total number of available HD channels in South East Pennsylvania to 30.  Some regions have a few more or less due to differing numbers of network affiliates available and regional sports networks.  Mercer County New Jersey, for example, has 38 HD channels available as of this new addition due to additional regional sports networks and the availability of both New York and Philadelphia network affiliates.

Dammit Frank, you must live north of Rt 1.

I wish I knew when they're gonna finally have service over here on the wrong side of the tracks.
