More disk storage ?

Anyone seen any offerings from Comcast beyond the 160 GB 3416?  There were rumors that larger disks might be available this summer.

Re: More disk storage ?

Disc space has not been an issue for us.  The 6412 has what, 120 gb ?  We record and watch and delete. Don't save anything.

Re: More disk storage ?

I tend to agree, although I moved up from the 3412 to the 3416 to get a third more margin.  Using the Motorola DVR as a means of archiving seems to be a recipe for disappointment, considering how frequently users report losing their recordings.  For us, it's primarily a means of freeing ourselves from the schedule and skipping through the ads.

Re: More disk storage ?

There has been mention of a Panasonic (or is it Pioneer) DVR with 250G that would be offered. I don't know what ever happened with that. I think Comcast made some deals with Motorola and will stick with those.

Re: More disk storage ?

Rumor has it that my system will be getting this DVR in the near future. Again it's rumor: http://www.moxi.com/features.htm

Re: More disk storage ?

The Moxi has been out for a while... I think Charter was using it for a while.  I doubt Comcast would roll out another piece of equipment that is essentially identical in functionality to what they already have.

Re: More disk storage ?

does anyone know if the eSATA port is enabled?

How about the firewire ports?

I just swapped my Moto 6412 for the 3416 today and they had no manuals at the office. So I am not a newbie to the DVR just to this box which has only recently been available in my market.

Re: More disk storage ?

I believe FCC regulations require that the Firewire port be active on all HD equipment.  Not sure about eSATA, but I doubt it.

Re: More disk storage ?

Comcast Motorola DVRs do not have the eSATA port active.
