Re: It's funny....

Wonder how much of your cable rate increase goes into placards, fliers and postage costs spent advertising products they can't make any sales on.

As business plans go, it's Comcastic!

Re: It's funny....

Been seeing lots of trucks (not Comcast) labeled some cabling company in my neighborhood. I wonder if they are actually doing any thing that afffects the on-demand availability.  The brouchure from Comcast did say we would see lots of trucks in the area for a while.

Re: It's funny....

I'll bet they are Cable Com trucks.  Comcast uses them as contractors to dig their trenches and lay their cable.  You're on your way Ned.

Yep. They are Cable Com.  Also...got a door hanger from comcast today saying
they are in the area and to expect outages, but they will try to keep them to before
5PM.  I can imagine how many times my box is gonna reload the guide from that.

Unless they figure out a way to interrupt your power in the process of digging, I wouldn't think the guide data would reload.

Re: It's funny....

When they upgraded the system here (San Jose, CA), I never had a power interruption.  But, the cable service went out a dozen or more times over about 6 weeks, sometimes for as much as 12 hours.   They always said they'd have it working by 5 PM, but often missed by several hours.  Whenever I called to complain outages that lasted well past 5 PM, they'd say "oh, we're doing the upgrade in your area,  there's nothing we can do."

The good news is that since they finished (about 2 years ago), the system has been very reliable.  I can't remember the last time it was out.
