Motorola DCT6200/Firewire

Hello All,
I am in Montgomery County, MD and I just got a Motorola DCT6200 - which has 2 firewire ports on the back. I'd like to connect the firewire to my computer's firewire and build my own DVR.

As a simple test of my computer hardware, I set up Windows XP Home and used Nero to record from a camcorder to make sure that the firewire ports on the computer worked - they did. Next, I connected firewire from the DCT6200 to the computer - Nero is not able to detect that there is any device connected when connected to the DCT6200.

Has anyone else gotten this to work? With a DCT6200? In the Montgomery County, MD area? Also, is it important that both ends of the firewire cable be 6 pin? I used the same cable that woked with the Sony Camcorder - 4 pin on 1 end and 6 pin on the other.

Any helpful advice, hints or tips would be most apprec.

Thanks,

Kevin
